Abstract
Person-Centered Therapy for Pain Syndromes. Chronic pain, recognized as a widespread phenomenon, almost always involves psychosocial determining factors. Due to this interlinkage of somatic and psychosocial factors in chronic pain syndromes, such syndromes present a particular challenge to the field of psychotherapy in general, and person-centered therapy in particular. The following describes the person-centered approach to this disorder, against the backdrop of Swilden’s process-oriented model. Thus, the consistent consideration of person-centered disorder theory, the discussion of features of the therapeutic relationship with these clients, and a distinctly hands-on nature of practice shall be important characteristics.
