Abstract

Searching for our lost future. Is Rogers’ conversational psychotherapy antiquated or can therapy research not do it justice? It is not “dogmatic”, to preserve Rogers’ useful achievements, but lays the foundation for further development of a humanist psychotherapy which is not instrumentally based on epistemologically questionable classification systems and therapeutic research. Due to the current scientific state of the art of the so-called evidence-based therapy research, it is not yet possible to adequately evaluate, thoroughly research or even improve the effectiveness of therapeutic treatments. These elementary epistemological findings were left out by the authors of the anniversary article as well as by the scientific advisory board for psychotherapy.
