LSP should be a major subject of school didactics in Germany. In German lessons, LSP not only has to be reflected, but also trained with regard to structural, pragmatic, cognitive, and
ethic aspects (e.g. understanding terminology, producing and apprehending texts, thinking by writing, or overcoming barriers of communication). So pupils not only gain in knowledge, but even acquire abilities by using LSP. Analysing the educational standards of German (Baden-Württemberg, Germany), we are forced to conclude that this important subject does not have as much status as it should. In future, both school and politics have to assume responsibility for a better LSP education in general.
