Abstract

Being Person-Centered — Review or Update? A Statement on the Anniversary Article Being Person-Centered — Seven Demands of the Future by Behr, Finke & Gahleitner (2016). In the anniversary edition „Jubiläumsheft 20 Jahre PERSON“, the article „Personzentriert sein – Sieben Herausforderungen der Zukunft“ was published. This article addresses some trends of the last two decades in the context of the person-centered approach (“Personzentrierter Ansatz”) and conversational psychotherapy in order to point out a possible evolution. However, it is rather a rollback of the approach defined by Rogers than a reappraisal, review and differentiation of current perspectives. Eventually, there does not seem to be left more of the humanistically and phenomenologically influenced theory and therapy concept than what has already been considered of the person-centered approach by other approaches (e.g. cognitive behavioral therapy) as well.
