In view of the maintaining and enhancing components of the actualizing tendency and the meaning of specific relationship experiences parallels arise. A case example clarifies aspects of post traumatic growth. References to the therapeutic practice, especially the facilitation of post traumatic growth, critical conclusions and open questions in research complete the essay.
