Abstract

Thinking in processes. Introduction to Eugene T. Gendlin’s process-model. Eugene T. Gendlin’s “process-model” will establish a new science model to give better descriptions and explanations of life, which is always a process. The process of the body-environment-interaction as starting point brings a radical other point of view for the well-known body-mind-problem or newer questions of neuroscience like the problem to explain consciousness. The process-model inherently connects body processes, animal behavior and the human ability of symbolization. There is no gap between concepts of bodily physiology and concepts of mental phenomena like in the materialistic science model. As a model of change and connection, it is particularly suitable for theoretical understanding in psychotherapy, which is primarily a process of change. This introduction should inspire and support a “thinking in processes”, which opens a surprising new point of view to living processes – and this is, what we humans are.
