Abstract
Support from the very beginning — personcentered relationship with children with complex trauma. The psychotherapeutic work with early and persistently traumatized children is a special challenge for the relationship design in personcentered play therapy. Which precise (play)answers do children with complex trauma need from the therapist to feel understood? Which know-ledge and personal skills does the therapist need to respond to the challenging relationship wishes and requirements in a helpful way? This process starts from the moment of first encounter. During the first contacts between child and therapist the decisive
course for further therapy is set. Based on accurate descriptions of the first therapy sessions of a personcentered child therapy with a complexly traumatized boy, the comprehensive cognitive process and the highly specific relationship design for this work is discussed.
