Abstract
Abstract The paper discusses experiences that were gained in the process of terminology formation for Functional Pragmatics in languages other than German. A German based terminology has been confronted with linguistic means in other European languages of science, sc. Dutch, English, Greek and Italian. These languages are seen as examples for various language expansion structures in the process of modern, post-medieval differentiation of scientific languages. Transfer difficulties and generative needs are discussed in the context of a multilingual option for scientific communication in Europe’s future science development.
