Abstract
Person-Centered Group-Therapy for Children: Concept, Procedure and Evaluation. In the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Zurich the person-centered approach was applied in a group-setting with children. The treatment was evaluated simultaneously. Due to the lack of speciic literature the authors had to develop their own adequate therapeutical procedures in group-therapy and some of the research-instruments in relection on the person-centered approach and in recourse to their own experiences in individual therapy. Up to now a sample of 33 boys (8 – 12 years old) in seven groups were included in the study and followed-up at intervals of six and twelve months after the group-therapy. The indication for group-therapy consists in disorders characterized by a lack of social competences according to ICD-10. Results indicate the beneits of the group intervention. High Effect Sizes demonstrate a signiicant decline in anxiety-based and aggressive symptoms. Furthermore, parent and teachers told about increased social competence and self-conidence.
