Abstract

One’s own tone: A response to the commentaries: The author responds to the commentaries that Markus Steffen and Michael Gutberlet wrote on his primary paper on “Relationality and Dialogical Self ”. He focuses in particular on the topic of empathy, on the construction of the so-called “true self ”, and on the individualism that is still predominant in our culture as well as implicit in many psychotherapeutic concepts which limit the possible effects of therapeutic practice.
