Abstract
The presentation of person-centered therapy in German-speaking literature. Focusing on the central concepts of the person-centered approach (PCA) — which are based on the results of Carl R. Rogers’ research — the authors analyze several portrayals of person-centered therapy by using examples from textbooks on clinical psychology, psychotherapy, psychiatry and from guidebooks. The authors conclude that the accounts often are incomplete and therefore misleading. Thus, the presentation is not suitable for delineating the PCA as a psychotherapy procedure.
