Abstract

From personal development to the transmission of facts? How much may remain of the special quality of the person centered approach after the new state-run regulations for the training of psychotherapists? The specific issues and quality criteria of traditional training in client-centered therapy in Germany as well as the new general framework of the State Training Regulations are described. The issue of the extent to which previously accepted educational goals, contents and methods can be implemented in training in the future is raised. Possible advantages of the new training regulations are identified, and suggestions are developed as to which measures could secure the quality of training in client-centered therapy under the changed general framework.
