Abstract

Person-centered aspects concerning the development of childhood sexuality in the relationship to the mother. The article describes the phenomenon of sexuality within a person centered framework. The focus is on the development of the childhood sexuality and its relationship to the mother. In the context of child care, this relationship’s erotic and sexual meanings and their multiple forms of expression have not yet been given due attention. Starting with a short historical synopsis of the person centered approaches concerning the topic, the author offers a person centered description of the “never non-sexual” relationship between mother and child and its favorable and unfavorable consequences.
