Abstract
Sustainable Leadership. This article reviews a programme of individually tailored supervision and leadership-coaching for three residential care professionals: a director and two residential care area managers. A one day workshop is presented that showcases the qualitative procedures of the programme. After defining criteria of sustainable leadership, the ‘inner team’ is analysed in line with a modified version of Schulz von Thun’s model. As a deductive conclusion, a sustainable gerontological supervision and leadership-coaching programme is postulated as essential for healthy and sustainable management in retirement homes. This would enable positive interaction with staff members, residents and their relatives, and promote excellence of services within the retirement home.
