Abstract
Therapeutic communication online: An integrative comparism of Rogers’ therapeutic conditions and the Media-Ecological Model. With Covid-19, questions concerning person-centered online-psychotherapy arose. While empirical research came to offer first answers, theoretical work is still needed. Through an integrative approach, Rogers’ therapeutic conditions and Döring’s Media-Ecological Model (MEM) were compared. Results show that on a theoretical level, person-centered psychotherapy and MEM can be brought together whereas factors of the involved persons and the medium of choice regarding the individual communicative encounter and the therapeutic relationship in it’s entirety need to be considered. A point of conflict relates to if and in what degree two bodily present persons encountering each other in a physically shared experiential field are necessary for therapeutic change. Integrating MEM into person-centered theory may offer valuable input for further research, training and treatment.
