Abstract

Thinking, Coaching and Moderating in an Experiential Way: ECC — Experiential Concept Coaching. ECC-Experiential Concept Coaching is an experiential and person-centered approach based on Focusing and Thinking at the Edge. ECC provides manuals for guiding individuals and groups through the creative process of articulating new ideas in their own working life. The article describes the theoretical foundations of ECC: a Focusing-oriented, experiential understanding of creativity and the TAE steps developed by E. Gendlin, M. Hendricks und K. Nelson. It shows the difficulties and potentials of learning and applying TAE and how ECC was developed according to experiences in teaching and working with TAE. The main guidelines of ECC are introduced according to different settings in which ECC can be applied. The application of ECC is illustrated by giving an example of an experiential thinking process. Finally the characteristics of experiential creativity are reflected and distinguished from an economically motivated understanding of creativity and the vision of a “first person work” is being unfurled.
