Personzentrierte Betreuung von Menschen mit psychischer Erkrankung

Abstract

This article formulates basic principles for the field of psychosocial care for people with severe mental illness from a person-centered perspective. Successful care for this group of people is based on a helpful relationship between carers and clients. A helpful relationship is in turn created through congruence, positive regard and empathy, considering disorder-specific aspects. Using a case study, the person-centered care practice and the promotion of autonomy are outlined.
