Abstract
This article is about leadership by focusing on the main thesis that social skills are the most important skills of leaders. The personcentred mindset, especially authenticity (congruence), is essential for the author’s view on social skills. “Supervision” is instead of hero-manufactories the setting where people can develop their own social skills by reflecting the effects of their leadership style and working on their authenticity as a leader. Authenticity enables that social skills of a leader can be recognized by others. Theses and view of the author are derived from some specific concepts of leadership and his personal experiences. This article is therefore based on the author’s personal experience as leader and as external consultant. Specific academic concepts should strengthen his thesis.
