Abstract

Ethics in psycho-social professional ields: a topic essential to vocational training in the person-centred approach. There is an
increasing demand for discussion about a responsible treatment of clients/patients in social and human sciences. This applies also to psychotherapy and counselling. However, one should ask if the required ethical principles can be found within the concept of giving occupational support.
In this case it wouldn’t be necessary to refer to ethical standards. The commission for ethics in the GwG favours a balance between these two positions. It has established ethical guidelines, but attaches great importance to the development of awareness and to more specialised training courses and advanced vocational training. Thus those resources ensuring a correct and appropriate treatment of the client/patient within the approach of therapeutic care are strengthened.
