Abstract

The organism. Exploring a complex concept and its role in the Person-Centred Approach. The organism is a basic, but in many aspects rather poorly outlined concept in the PCA. Aimed at clarifying the term and gaining a better understanding of the resulting consequences for our therapeutic work, the present paper examines the different definitions available, takes a look at its development in the PCA and its context in science and philosophy, reflects on its metaphorical usage, and describes some of its functions and characteristics.
